How we work

At CBA PEI, we carry out the vision and mission of the Canadian Bar Association in Prince Edward Island.

A team gathered in a meeting room and having a discussion.

CBA PEI is governed by our branch bylaws and policies along with the bylaws of the CBA. Led by our President, our Executive Committee is made up of seven members responsible for advancing the work of the PEI Branch. They ensure the necessary resources for branch operations, and oversee the outcomes of our advocacy, programs and activities.
Our Executive Director leads CBA PEI operations to support and serve our members.

National governance

Our national association is governed by a President, supported by a 15-member Board of Directors. The National Board represents the diversity of Canada’s legal profession, including practice types, experience, skills, geography and more. All provinces and territories have a seat at the table. CBA Board members are elected by the current Board of Directors, Branch presidents and National Section chairs.
Each member serves a two-year term. Board member terms are staggered so only some of the Board change each year.
